Just give Edwards the fight against Berger,Its what Hawaii MMA fans want to see. if u guys match him up with Tanoa he will just be 2 easy of a match.Tanoa has been dropped in all of his matchups but what do u think Edwards will do 2 him being a deadly striker.

Edwards doesn't deserve a title shot. He never even fought in destiny or have an impressive MMA record for that matter.

Edwards should fight Paea Poango in Maui. That would be a good test for Edwards and Paea is unmatched.

Come on Eric Step up.

terrance taanoa has been dropped in all of his matchups? this is not true ..I think his ammy mma record is like 3-1. he lost his debut to jarret lindsey (the only guy to truly test his chin)but he came back and almost won the fight.. he shows a lot of heart and i think he has a promising career with the sky being the limit.. a win over the 'deadly striker' edwards would look good on his resume

Just wanted to offer some humble opinions on the subject. First off I would like to say that I'm a very good friend of Henri Berger. We grew up together and he is a brother to me. I was a cornerman in his title fight against Paea. I know alot of people question whether he should have gotten a title shot or not but that is up to the promoter. However, like everyone has mentioned, he has dominated all of his opponents and finished them in the first round. He is also undefeated. I have great respect for Eric Edwards as well as any other fighter that has the guts, training, and dedication to enter that cage. I'm looking forward to see them fight and know it will be a good one. Winning a title is only half the battle. I believe the greatness of champion is truly measured in his title defenses. Only then will we see what he is truly capable of.
Henri is not the type that will back out or make excuses regarding an upcoming fight. He really will fight anyone. In his after fight interview it may have seemed to be disrespectful by using the word "kid" but thats just a normal manner of his speech. He calls his own brother kid and instead of saying "hey brah" like us, he'll say "hey kid" to get your attention. I guess its a New York slang. I'm also sure he said that because he wasn't even sure who Eric Edwards was when he entered the ring or in the after fight interview. He was probably so excited he won the belt.
I know alot of fans dont know who Henri Berger is but alot of people who have been involved in this sport for awhile do. He has trained at some of the best gyms on the island as well as on the mainland. His resume is outstanding in that department. Pops Carvalho, Bullspen, Icon Sport Gym, UFS, as well as Cobra Kai (Las Vegas), and AKA (San Jose) know Berger. Now its his turn to make a name for himself in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Good Job Henry, but I wanted to just offer my opinion on this subject. Eric Edwards should be considered one of Hawaii's top heavyweights. Terrence Taanoa is not 3-1 unless he fought as a PRO against Paea Paongo. Where he actually got TKO'd. Ive watched Terrence fight, no disrepect intended at all, but I dont think hes ready to step up to be a champion, he has some more training to do, then maybe he will be able to compete against some of the best. He is 2-2, not 3-1 just to clear the air on this.

Another opinion, why should Paea Paongo fight Eric Edwards? what is this going to do for him? He just lost the title shot, you guys dont really think hes even close to contention again do you. Hes a banger, thats for sure, but he just couldnt pull off the W. Even if he beats Eric, doesnt mean hes ready for the title shot again.

So heres what I think should happen. Eric Edwards should fight Terrance Taanoa just to see who is in contention for the belt.

Now for the PRO or AMMY, on July 1, 2009 Hawaii tried to regulate pro fighters by requiring them to register as a professional fighter. According to Hawaii law, you are not considered a professional fighter unless you are registered. Real simple explanation.

So heres the Million Dollar Question. Can anyone prove that Sale Sproat, (Destiny's AMMY Champion) who is listed on SHERDOG with a record of 1-0 received compensation from any of his fights. Or for this matter, Eric Edwards received compensation for his 2 fights listed on SHERDOG? Or can anyone prove that the promoter paid these fighters?

Probably not. Its not even worth the arguments that everyone is making. If he says he amateur, we just have to beleive it until he is a registered professional like, for instance Brandon Visher.

just wondering? when Terrance beats Eric does that earn him a shot at berger or are u guys gonna make him jump through hoops and fight paea before he gets a shot at him?

for the record...and this is the honest to gods truth...sherdog.com is not a reliable source for pro records on Hawaii fighters...

they have gotten confused with the ammy and pro cards...

lots of ammy's are being listed on sherdog that aren't supposed to be...not sure who they get their info from or what sources...before, they would only post when promoters submit directly to them...now it seems they just look up results on websites and don't verify them with promoters...

there was a bunch of other ammy's that all had their records on sherdog and I had to email them to have it corrected...if you check all the ammy names from my DESTINY: Bad Blood event...the whole card was ammy and all their names are listed on sherdog...but record has been corrected to 0-0...but names still appear!

same for some of the x1 ammys like Jared Iha had his loss to Julio on there, but has since been corrected and many more...

i don't know bro, it seems that its split...not everyone wants this match to happen...i think it can be much bigger if i make Eric fight someone else 1st...

And I didn't make Ben vs Kyle because they had an altercation outside a club...

I put that together because one they had a grudge that builds a good story line and two it was a good matchup being that Ben was coming off a string of losses and Kyle had been out of action for awhile...

Also, this was not a title fight like that matchup would be! I know Eric has mad skillz and would be a great match....but I wanna make it as big as possible because some other people really don't know Eric...so let me build up da hype...all will work out in the end!

I agree with this fight too! Paea just lost to Henry but this would give everybody a good indication of where Eric is in the MMA game plus a chance for Paea to avenge that loss..then the winner of this fight can have a go with terrance (that way its either rematch paongo v. taanoa or taanoa v. edwards for a chance at the belt) this would quiet all the talk that edwards is undeserving and build sufficient hype for the big title match..however it pans out either taanoa, edwards or paongo cannot be denied a shot at the champ

Right on MMABIZ. Especially with the clarification on who is pro and who isnt. Basically you could have fought a couple pro matches in the good old days of Superbrawl/Icon, X-1, and Rumble but if you havent registered and been licensed with the State after that law was enacted, your still an amatuer. I really want to thank Jay for bringing out that Heavyweight amatuer belt. That was a smart move for the sport. Mahalos bu. I'm certain alot of the previous heavyweight contenders will be coming back to the sport because of it. It gives the biggies a goal to strive for where there was none before. It should also create alot more fights and fill a division that needs more fighters.
