Fast and furious seemed a fitting title for Destiny's event tonight. Especially since the last two fights on the card lasted collectively less than 4 minutes. As always, many of the under card fights were action packed and worth every second. I found myself , during

intermission, wanting the fights to resume ASAP!

There was an injury during one of the fights in which the toe of one of the fighters was absolutely broken. Very very sad for the fight to end on that note just as it was beginning to heat up. There was one under card fight however that was fire from start to finish and that was the war between Jon Lucious and Pedda Delacruz. Lucious took the fight directly to Pedda with both guns blazing. Lucious completely controlled the stand up dropping bomb after bomb. But Pedda would not be toppled that easily. He came back with as many haymakers as he could muster, putting a few on the chin of Lucious. However as the fight drew to a close it was clear that Lucious controlled each minute of the fight. Great job by both fighters.destiny_20100306-(308-of-355)

Lester Da Soja and Terrance Taanoa put on a fight that most heavyweights dream about. They exchanged blows pretty much the entire time leaving the crowd wanting more. Sweat would fly as they clashed fist to face accompanied with a loud thud but neither would give in. The two battled it out to a draw and were approaching a third and final round when Da Soja could not continue. This would be a nice rematch!!

In the co-main event of the evening, Henri Berger made short work of the Heavyweight hammer known as Paea Paongo. As everyone know, Paongo has some of the heaviest hands in the game, so Berger took those out of the picture with a thunderous takedown in the first seconds of the fight. He took Paongo's back and never relented as he squeezed the title out of this match. Henri Berger arises as the Destiny Heavyweight Champion. Congratulations to the champ. And I think I speak for everyone when I say that we cannot wait to see Paongo's return.

Finally the time had come for the main event. The grudge match to end all grudge matches. Kyle Kaahanui and Ben Santiago were not shy about showing their distaste for one another before and during destiny_20100306-(330-of-355)the fight. When these two hit the cage it seemed as if security might have to be called in just to keep them apart. Ben was trying to get into Kyle's head even seconds before the fight. When the two finally squared off, it was explosive from the beginning. They traded punches that seemed to do no damage at all. The pace was fast and furious. ( No pun intended) Kyle took Ben down and gained control of the fight. But soon after Ben turned the tables. The fight was almost even until Ben landed a punch square on Kyle's chin, dropping him to the mat. Kyle tried to defend but Ben had already smelled blood and begun raining punches from above ending the fight in the first round.

Tonight was exceptional as always when Destiny comes to call. Congratulations to all the fighters who participated and thanks for the amazing show you put on for the fans. Need I even say that this is why MMA in Hawaii is on a totally different level.
